Way of Knife & EDC Gear House FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions:

How do I send my Knife/Gear in for Modification Services?

You can find all of the steps and instructions along with shipping information Here.

How does the Modification Discount work?

IF you purchase a Knife or tool from us that you wish to apply modifications to, add the services to your cart along with the item to be customized and explain in your notes what it is you are envisioning. During checkout, use the discount code ADDON30 to receive 30% off other modification work being applied. This discount is ONLY applicable to items purchased from us within 30 days of purchasing. Creative freedom packages and already-discounted services are not eligible for the discount.

What is the current turnaround time for modification work?

We're proud to be one of the quickest, if not THE quickest customization shop in the industry. That being said, we are a 2-man operation, we take pride in our work and do our best to not rush through services. As we grow our business, more and more projects come about that tend to eat up our time. We do our very best to keep our Queue to a 10-20 BUSINESS DAY turn around time depending on the work load. We are often quicker, and yet rarely longer than the waiting period. We ask for your patience on items you purchase that require customizing before shipping out along with your mail-in mod work.

What does my order status mean?

You could see up to 3 different order status' appear on your order depending on the situation. Below is what each status means:

Pending: This means your order has been placed but is not in our hands yet. This applies to both pre-orders and mail-in services. Once your knife has landed in our shop, the order status will change.

Awaiting Fulfillment: This means your order is in Queue to be serviced or shipped. If you send us an item to have work done, the status will change from Pending to Awaiting Fulfillment when it lands in our shop and is received.

Manual Verification Required: This means your order has some concerns with it. Whether it be a question we had regarding the modifications you asked for, something we need to clarify with you before proceeding, or if your order got flagged in our system as a suspicious order (odd IP address, Mismatching addresses, etc). We will reach out to you both by phone and email when this status is assigned to an order to verify whatever it is that is needed to get the order moving.

What is your return policy?

Unopened and undamaged products (packaging included) can be returned for full refund within 14 days of purchasing to the original payment method that was used on the initial order. After the 14 day window, you will be charged a 15% restocking fee to return new items. On modified and customized pieces along with pre owned inventory, we cannot offer any returns unless the product is defective.

Does e-mailing you about my order speed things up?

Not in the slightest. It actually takes more time out of our work-time in order to answer emails and questions. Please have patience with our customization orders, and please don't reach out asking about updates until you have seen at least 15 business days pass since it has landed in our hands. Thank you!

How should I send my Gear to you?

Ultimately, this is your property and you can pack it however you'd like. What we recommend is a USPS Small Box with the items packed and secured inside. TAPE YOUR BOXES. It goes without saying that a loosely packed item can and will get lost en route, and unfortunately for you, there is nothing we can do about that. It hasn't happened many times, but it has happened. Ship your items using whichever shipping service you prefer; USPS, UPS, and FedEx are the big three that we see deliver to us almost every day. Be smart about your packaging, protect your products, and secure the box to the best of your ability.

Will you ship me an Automatic Knife?

We ship any of our knives worldwide, but due to ever changing laws regarding assisted and automatic knives, we highly recommend you do the research in your own jurisdiction, whether that be country, state, or local laws, to make sure you will not be receiving or handling something that could get you into a legal situation by owning or carrying such a knife. It is hard for us to know when and where laws change, and we can not keep up on laws across the world. We will not be held liable for seizures of product or legal issues that may arise after the purchase of your knife. Risk is on the purchaser, and we ask that you take things into your own hands to be sure of your safety and legality.
